# What is a call to action in an ad?

A call to action, or CTA, is the single instruction an ad gives the viewer about what to do next, such as "shop the winter scent" or "book a cleaning", shown and said before the ad ends. In short video ads it usually appears three times: in a spoken or sung line, on screen as text, and on the platform's button.

## How it is used in small-business video ads

The platform adds its own button under or over the video, and that button sits on top of your picture. Meta's safe zone guidance says to keep key elements away from the edges of 9:16 ads so they are not covered by interface elements such as the profile icon or a call to action. So the CTA has two homes: the button you pick in Ads Manager, and the words inside the video, which should say the same thing.

In a SingingAds video the CTA lives in the last sung line, on the offer card and on the end card with your web address. A sung CTA has an advantage: people hear what to do while still looking at the product.

## Writing a CTA that gets clicked

- **One action.** "Shop now or follow us or visit the store" splits attention three ways.
- **Name the thing,** not just the verb: "get the oat bar" beats "learn more".
- **Only real reasons to act now.** If your page has a dated sale, the CTA can mention it; if it does not, do not invent a deadline.
- **Match the landing page.** If the ad says "pick your scent", the link should open on the scent picker, not the home page.

## An illustrative example

Illustrative example: a made-up mobile car wash, Suds on Wheels, ends its 30-second ad with the sung line *"Text us your street, we bring the shine"*, an end card reading "Book at sudsonwheels.example", and the platform button set to Book now. Three versions of one instruction, no competing asks.

## Common mistakes

- A video CTA that contradicts the button, such as "call us" in the song and Shop now on the button.
- Placing the CTA text at the very bottom of the frame, where the button and caption cover it.
- Promising a discount that the page does not offer. SingingAds will not add prices or promises that are not on your page.
- Leaving the CTA to the final half second, when many viewers have already gone.

## Related terms

The CTA usually sits on the end card and must stay inside the safe zone. Its success shows up in clicks and, eventually, ROAS. To turn your page's real offer into a sung CTA, see [product page to video ad](https://singingads.com/features/product-page-to-video-ad).

## What it can’t do

- A clear CTA cannot rescue a landing page that is slow, confusing or out of stock.

Paste your product page. SingingAds writes a jingle about it, sings it and cuts a vertical video ad, using only claims your page makes.

From $15 for one ad, or $59 for about 6 thirty-second video ads. Credits never expire. Made with AI; you approve every word before anything is sung.

## What it costs

From $15 for one ad, or $59 for about 6 thirty-second video ads. Credits never expire. A jingle take costs 4 credits; a typical 30-second video ad about 26. There is no free tier and no free sample.

## Questions

**Where should the call to action go in a video ad?**

Near the end, inside the safe zone, and repeated by the platform button. In ads longer than 15 seconds, a soft mention halfway through helps people who leave early.

**Should the CTA be spoken, sung or written?**

Ideally both heard and seen, because some people watch with sound off and others never read on-screen text. A sung line plus a matching card covers both.

**Which CTA button should I choose on Meta or TikTok?**

The one that describes the next step on your landing page. If the page is a product page, a shopping button fits; if it is a booking form, choose a booking button.

**Is "link in bio" a good CTA for ads?**

Not for paid ads, which have a clickable button. Save it for organic posts.
