# How to make a TikTok slideshow ad

A TikTok slideshow ad is a handful of still images shown in order, each with one short line of big text, timed to a sound. To make one, choose photos that show the product plainly, put your sharpest line on slide one, give every slide a single idea, keep words away from the bottom and right edges, change slides on the beat, and finish with a slide that tells people what to do.

## Choose photos that do the selling

Five to eight pictures is plenty. Give each one a job: the product alone on a plain background, the product in a hand for scale, a close detail like stitching or texture, the product where it actually lives, and the result. Crop everything to tall 9:16 at 1080 x 1920 first, and pick shots with empty wall or table above the product, since that is where your text goes. Skip near-duplicates and mixed lighting; photos shot in the same window light read as one story.

## Slide one is the whole hook

In a slideshow the first second is one picture and one line, so do not spend it on your logo. Open on the problem, a specific number from your page, or a picture that looks slightly odd in a good way. Lines like "Coffee rings on your desk?" give people a reason to see slide two. Show the text from the very first frame, not fading in. More openers in ad hooks for the first 3 seconds.

## One idea per slide, in text people can read

Write a headline of two to six words per slide, plus at most one small supporting line. If a slide needs a sentence to explain it, split it into two slides. Use heavy lettering with an outline or a solid box behind it, and check it on a phone at arm's length.

Placement matters as much as size. TikTok's ad specs say the safe zone depends on the dimension, the length of the ad caption and any extra formats, and it offers downloadable safe zone files. Lay it over your slides and keep words in the upper middle, away from the caption and buttons. More on the safe zone.

## Pace it on the beat

Aim for roughly 1.5 to 3 seconds per slide, with every change landing on a beat. At 120 beats per minute, four beats make a two-second slide. A slow zoom or pan on each picture keeps the frame alive without needing video. Eight slides then run about 15 to 25 seconds.

## Sort out the sound before you build

A photo post in the TikTok app picks its sound from TikTok's library. For businesses, TikTok's help center says the general music library is not for commercial use and points to its Commercial Music Library for organic posts, video ads and branded content. With your own audio, such as a jingle, render the slideshow as a video and post it, then reuse its original sound on photo posts, or build the whole thing in an editor. CapCut's license lets its Commercial Sounds be shared within CapCut, TikTok and TikTok for Business, so a CapCut track does not follow your ad to other apps.

For paid ads, TikTok Ads Manager also has a Carousel Ad format: images that people swipe through in order, which TikTok pitches for advertisers without video or reusing assets from other platforms.

## End on one clear action

The last slide tells people what to do: product name, the offer if your page has one, and where to get it, such as "Shop the Spring Set, link below". Match the words on your ad's button and landing page, and hold this slide a beat or two longer.

## Test versions, then label any AI

Make three to five versions, changing one thing in each: first slide, photo order, cut speed or sound. Run them with the same audience and budget and keep the one people watch past slide two. When a winner slips, swap the first slide before rebuilding; that is usually creative fatigue.

TikTok's ad policy asks you to apply its AIGC label or add a clear disclaimer when images, video or audio are completely AI-generated; small fixes such as lighting, color or background removal do not count. AI-drawn scenes or an AI-sung track need it. Details in [AI label rules for ads](https://singingads.com/guides/ai-label-rules-for-ads).

## What it can’t do

- A slideshow cannot show a product working or moving; if the sale depends on a demo, make a video.
- TikTok rules on sounds, safe zones and labels were read on 17 Oct 2026 and change often; check them before you post.
- A SingingAds slideshow uses the photos on your product page, so weak photos give a weak slideshow.

Paste your product page. SingingAds writes a jingle about it, sings it and cuts a vertical video ad, using only claims your page makes.

From $15 for one ad, or $29 a month for about 4 thirty-second video ads. Made with AI; you approve every word before anything is sung.

## Questions

**How many slides should a TikTok slideshow ad have?**

Five to eight for one product, so people reach the offer before they swipe away.

**How long should each slide stay up?**

About 1.5 to 3 seconds, changing on a beat of the music. Give the hook and the last slide the longest holds.

**Can I put my own song under a TikTok photo post?**

Not directly, because photo posts use sounds from TikTok's library. Post a video version with your song first and reuse its original sound, or build the slideshow as a video in an editor.

**What size should slideshow images be?**

Tall 9:16 at 1080 x 1920 pixels, so they fill the phone screen with no bars. Crop before you add text so nothing gets cut off later.

**Do I need an AI label on a slideshow with real photos?**

If any slide is AI-drawn or the audio is AI-generated, yes under TikTok's ad policy. Real photos with simple color or lighting fixes do not need it on their own.

**Should I run a slideshow or a video ad?**

It depends on whether your product needs motion to sell. We go through it in slideshow vs video ad, and the SingingAds version is on [the slideshow ad generator](https://singingads.com/features/tiktok-slideshow-ad-generator) page.
