> Not without a license. TikTok's Commercial Music Library, Meta's Sound Collection, AI music with commercial rights and an original jingle are the safe routes.

# Can you use trending or popular music in your ads?

Not without the right license. TikTok says businesses cannot use its general music library commercially and points them to its Commercial Music Library of about 1 million pre-cleared songs. Meta's ads guide says Instagram Reels ads should not contain licensed music and suggests original audio or its Sound Collection. A hit song needs permission from the people who own the composition and the recording.

## Why trending sounds are a trap for brands

Personal accounts can use a huge catalog because the platform licensed it for personal, non-commercial posts. Business use is a different license. On TikTok the help center says it plainly: the general music library is not for commercial use, and that includes organic posts by a business, not only paid ads. The usual result is a muted video, a blocked boost or a takedown, often after the post has started to work.

## Every recorded song has two owners

A popular track carries two sets of rights: the composition (melody and lyrics, usually controlled by a music publisher) and the master recording (usually a record label). To put it in an ad you typically need a sync license for the composition and a master use license for the recording, each with its own fee, term and territory. For a small brand that is often slow and expensive, and many owners simply say no to small ad campaigns.

## What the platforms give you

- **TikTok Commercial Music Library:** about 1 million pre-cleared songs that businesses may use at no extra cost in video ads, organic posts and branded content.
- **Meta Sound Collection:** royalty-free music Meta recommends for Reels ads instead of licensed tracks.
- **YouTube Audio Library:** copyright-safe production music in YouTube Studio; Creative Commons tracks need credit in the description.

Each library is tied to its platform. A track cleared on TikTok is not automatically cleared for your Meta ads or your website.

## AI music: check the plan, not the tool

With AI music, the license depends on your plan when you generated the track. Suno's pricing page, read on 17 October 2026, lists no commercial rights on its no-cost plan and commercial use on paid plans. Read the terms of any tool you use and save a copy. Our [AI jingle generators list](https://singingads.com/guides/best-ai-jingle-generators) notes the rights each tool states.

## Why an original jingle is the simple route

An original jingle written for your product carries one license, works on every platform and is not exposed to claims from labels or publishers you have never dealt with. It also says your brand name, which a borrowed song never will. With SingingAds you may use what you make in ads, on social media, websites, radio and podcasts, with no royalties, as long as you own the product or have the right to advertise it. ## Questions

**Can a business account use trending sounds on TikTok?**

Not from the general library. TikTok says businesses should use the Commercial Music Library for all commercial activity, including organic posts.

**Can I use 15 seconds of a song without permission?**

There is no safe number of seconds. Using any part of a recording in an ad without a license can lead to a claim.

**Is music from TikTok’s Commercial Music Library usable on Instagram?**

Do not assume so. Each library is licensed for its own platform; read the library terms before reusing a track elsewhere.

**Who owns an AI-generated jingle?**

That depends on the tool's terms and your plan when you made it. SingingAds lets you use what you make in ads and other channels with no royalties.

**What is a sync license?**

Permission from the composition owner to pair music with moving pictures, such as an ad. You also need permission for the specific recording.
