Burned-in kinetic captions, timed word by word to the vocal

Every SingingAds video carries word-by-word captions burned into the 9:16 MP4 and timed to the sung vocal, so the ad still sells with the sound off. You paste a product page; it writes and sings the jingle, cuts the video and lays the lyrics on screen as they are sung. Every word comes from lyrics you approved, built from claims on your page.

Why captions carry a song ad

A song ad is built for sound-on, but a lot of the feed is watched with the sound down. Without captions, a muted viewer sees nice pictures with no message. With captions timed to the vocal, the hook reads as a line of text in the first second, and the brand name appears on screen as it is sung.

Meta's Reels ad specs call captions optional but recommended, and sound optional but strongly recommended. A singing ad with burned-in captions covers both.

How the captions are timed

The captions are timed to the words as they are sung, appearing word by word in short bursts, so the eye follows the singer instead of reading ahead. Because the captions are burned in, they show the same way on TikTok, Reels and Shorts, and they cannot be switched off by the platform player.

The words on screen are your lyrics, so the spelling you approve is the spelling people read.

Write lyrics that read well as captions

  • Avoid sound-alike words where the meaning flips (there and their is fine to the ear, wrong on screen).
  • Keep lines short. Six to ten syllables reads cleanly in a few-word burst.
  • Watch the brand name. If you gave it a sound-it-out spelling for the singer, check what shows on screen. See brand name pronunciation.
  • Spell numbers the way you want them read. "Twelve hours" and "12 hours" land differently.

Mind the platform overlays

Feeds put buttons, names and ad text over your video. Meta suggests leaving about 14% at the top, 35% at the bottom and 6% on each side free of text, logos and key creative. (More on safe zones.) Before you launch, open the ad preview on your phone and check that no caption sits under the call-to-action button or the profile name.

On TikTok, the ad text you type in Ads Manager is shown separately from your video, in white in a fixed font, with no clickable links, @ symbols or hashtags. That text is a second line of copy; do not just repeat the first lyric.

Captions as a creative tool

Kinetic captions do more than help accessibility. A word that appears exactly on the beat adds punch, and a short line that lands alone ("cold again") can be the strongest frame in the ad. When you edit lyrics, read them aloud and picture each burst on screen. If a line looks weak as text, it is probably weak as a lyric. More on writing lines that work both ways on the lyrics writer page.

Captions also help the ad survive the creative review in your own team. A client or a manager who watches it on mute in a meeting still gets the message, which saves a round of "what does it say?" before launch. See how they look on examples.

Illustrative example: lyrics as they appear on screen

Product: Driftcomb, a made-up detangling brush. The page says "glides through wet hair" and "soft flexible bristles".

Sung line: "Every morning ends in tears and knots"

On screen, word by word: "Every morning" / "ends in tears" / "and knots".

Sung line: "Driftcomb glides right through wet hair"

On screen: "Driftcomb" / "glides right through" / "wet hair".

The brand name gets its own burst, on the beat, as it is sung.

What it can't do

  • Captions are burned into the MP4, so a viewer cannot turn them off.
  • The captions show the lyrics; they do not add extra on-screen copy.
  • It does not check your captions against each platform's overlay in the live ad; check the preview yourself.

What it costs

From $15 for one ad, or $29 a month for about 4 thirty-second video ads. A jingle take costs 4 credits; a typical 30-second video ad about 26. There is no free tier and no free sample.

Questions

Are the captions burned in or a separate file?

They are burned into the 9:16 MP4, so they show the same on every platform.

Can I change a caption after the video is made?

The captions are the lyrics, so get the wording right while you can still edit the lyrics, before the song is made.

Do captions help with sound-off viewing?

Yes. A muted viewer reads the hook and the brand name as they are sung, instead of seeing pictures with no message.

What language are the captions in?

The same language as the song. A jingle sung in French has French captions, because the captions are the lyrics.

Should I still write ad text in the platform?

Yes. The ad text sits outside the video, so use it for what the song does not say: who it is for, a delivery detail from your page, or the offer in plain words. Do not just paste the first lyric there.

Will the captions clash with TikTok or Reels buttons?

They can, depending on the device and the ad text length. Check the ad preview on a phone before you launch.
